I just want to express my (personal, not official in my capacity as a PFG organiser) disappointment in the attendance to the before and after events for the PFG.
The herbivore's dinner had 20 RSVPs and only saw about 10 attendees (with some extras who didn't RSVP).
The following people RSVP'd to the carnivore's picnic and did not show up:
- Patrio
- Kyras
- TFox
- Sirukie
- Vulpyra
- Drackir
- Fennec
- Lazarus
- Shadow-Paws
- Mr. V
- Acheron
- Flye
- Sidriel
- CJ Wolf
- Wolfadawn
- Peej
- Flamey
- Kiety
In actual fact, only 4 people showed up to the carnivore's picnic.
If you mark down your attendance and don't actually show up, this creates both logistical and image problems for the PFG:
- It's embarrassing to book a restaurant for a large number of people and find the tables unfilled.
- The people who DO attend these events get a negative impression about the Perthfur community.
- Over-catering for events costs both us and YOU money, since PFG is funded by its attendees.
- In the long term, this creates a bad image for the PFG and makes it harder to get support from furs for future events.
Next time, we intend to allow people to alter or revoke their RSVPs at any point up until the closure of badge submissions, which will go some way towards alleviating this problem - but ultimately it is YOUR responsibility when marking down your intended attendance that you actually plan on showing up on the day.
Perhaps a better idea would be to hold the dinner and picnic a week apart from the gathering. Id imagine half those that did not show up would have been tired or hungover after last night.
Really sorry guys, I did intend to go but was too tired after the main event. There were other factors that led to my non attendance as well but none are an excuse.
Next time I will probably RSVP no and turn up as an extra if I attend >< Comment edited at 2:02am
Yeah, but probably the lesser evil of the two. Of course if there are plans to make RSVPs changable until the date then yeah, no need for any.. evils =p
Hmm guilty as charged, sorry. I didn't realise it was going to start so late. By 2 pm I've already had lunch and gone to my parents house to see interstate relatives.
Although i did not attend PFG3 this year i would still like to comment. Im sure that everyone who did not turn up had a reason for their abscense. I must agree with Peejs suggestion that perhaps having the dinner/picnic a week in advance or later prior to PFG would be beneficial here. This would negate perhaps less "tired" people who have over-done it just a little at the main event. But i would still perhaps leave the RSVP cut-off date the same date as the Badges, providing the picnic/dinner was to be held at a later date to PFG.
I am actually very surprised at the quantity of perthfurs on the list :O i honestly clicked this thread not expecting SO many. In any case, i can understand how frustrating it must be for the organizers for the effort you guys put in to organizing and keeping these events in order. I think its fair to feel a little frustrated but see no point on dwelling on it further, that is unless this becomes a huge recurring thing, then i can see a lot of problems arising from it!
But youve voiced your concerns and opinion on the matter. All that is left now is for the people involved from both perspectives to reflect on previous events. Hopefully this is a once off and Cyrin and does not happen again. I just a lot of it probably was unintentional.
Also sorry if my response offends anyone, and apologies for sticking my beak in with an opinion. I really dont know what else i could say cept that i hope this issue is resolved.
Edited because im sick of seeing (') everywhere i try to use a comma! Zarn i have no idea why this happens but it would be just awesomeness if this could be fixed one day :) Comment edited at 5:56am

Re Kruzer: Perhaps a better idea would be to hold the dinner and pic...
The PFG committee attempted to combat this problem by holding the BBQ at 3pm. Even if attendees to the main PFG event went home slightly drunk, and/or continued to drink after they went home, they should have been able to attend.
The same really goes for the vegetarian dinner, as we all pretty much went our separate ways at 9pm-9:30pm, allowing plenty of time to do our own things before the main event the next day at 1pm.
One of the reasons the main event, and the carnivore and vegetarian meals are held in the afternoon is due to the acceptance that many furs work, and that most prefer to sleep-in on weekends.
If people RSVP a 'yes' to their attendance to either meal, it is expected that the reason behind this is because people actually intend to attend, not just covering themselves on the off-chance that they have nothing else to do. Especially in the case of the vegetarian dinner, which takes place at a restaurant where booking is essential to guarantee sufficient seating for those who wish to come along.
